Click & Charge Premium Wireless Phone Charger for Rivian R1T & R1S
Click & Charge Premium Wireless Phone Charger for Rivian R1T & R1S
NOTE: We are changing how we build this product. We hope to have the updated version available by the end of October 2024. In the meantime, we are pausing production to focus on retooling.
Description:
About a year since launching our Premium Charger, we've iterated and refined even further - landing with this. Installation is easier than ever - remove the old charger, get your pucks cable managed, plug in, then just click the new charger in to place.
The topper is a black ash veneer. Not an exact match to the interior wood finish on the R1T & R1S, but close enough to not be awkward! We've etched a topo map of Mt. Rainier (our products are mostly made in it's shadow!) in to it for a bit of extra panache.
Base is 3D-printed, but unlike our previous Premium Charger, the 'bowl' portion is vegan leather so the only visible plastic is a small lip around the edge of the topper.
Gen1 Charger:
NO pucks are included. However, the design supports the Anker Qi2 Chargers, the Apple MagSafe Charging Pucks, or the JSAUX MagSafe Chargers (these charge at 7.5 watts for Apple devices). We are working to offer pucks directly, but setting up the wholesale arrangements is taking some time!
WHAT'S IN THE BOX FOR GEN 1:
- Step Down Charger that connects to OEM plug in Rivian vehicles.
- Vegan Leather'ed Grand-ola Bowl and Veneered Base
- Locking Plates for Magsafe pucks or Anker qi2 chargers.
Gen2 Charger:
This still works with the OEM NFC card keys. We have designed around that constraint for the gen2 charger.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX FOR GEN 2:
- two qi2 charging pucks
- USB-C Power Splitter or Step Down Charger
- Vegan Leather'ed Kid Sized Bowl and Veneered Base
Is this the "Final Form" of S00nish's wireless charging aspirations?
Almost certainly not! Especially as Rivian's production methods change and they introduce new stuff for us to work with. For now though, we think this is the best aftermarket wireless charger on the market.

Fits perfectly and absolutely works. Much better than the OEM. Had an issue initially and it was very promptly addressed. Cannot recommend enough!!!!
Unit looks good and works well. First one I received was damage and quickly replaced. Second one has had the veneer/wood/vinyl fail in the heat. Cracking and looking bad over all.
If in a cooler climate it’s a great buy.
This is great product. It’s easy to install, looks OEM, and works great.
The installation video was very easy to follow with the banker pucks and I'm very happy with the result.
I really like my the Click & Charge Premium Wireless Phone Charger. It's very nice looking except in the corners where it is a bit smaller than it should be and leaves a gap. The contour map of Mt Rainer is pure win, and the larger tray for holding things is much more useful than the narrow slot in the stock wireless charger. That said, there are a couple of aspects that don't completely thrill me and that others may want to know about before they buy - not saying don't buy, but definitely be aware of these things so you're not surprised by them.
Assembly: Following the video online was a breeze. I equipped my charger with one genuine Apple Magsafe charger I had on hand and one (of a pair) of cheap Chinese alternatives that had good reviews on Amazon. The cheapo Chinese knockoffs only cost me $17.99 for a pair, and I tested them on their own before assembling them into the unit. Once you press a charger into place, though, you've committed to having that charger in that spot as the adhesive on the back side of the top plate is plenty strong. I found this out when I realized I'd put the genuine Apple charger on the passenger side and thought I would want it on the driver's side (assuming it would be stronger).
Installation: Again, following the video was not hard, though I did need to play around with it until I really figured it out. My advice is to pull back on the tabs before inserting each card - I was unable to make the process work by just trying to wedge cards in place. Once I figured this out, the stock charger came free easily and the rest was a breeze.
Fit: Once pressed down and fully in place my unit has a slight gap that's noticeable in the left front (driver side) corner, and less noticeable on the right front. This is a bit disappointing as the videos and pictures seemed to show a better fit. Other than this gap in the corners, the unit looks great and does not detract from the excellent fit and finish of the rest of the cabin.
Operation: Ironically, the slightly heavier and presumably well made genuine Apple charger seems to hold the phone in place less well than the cheap-o Chinese knock off. That said, neither of them hold the phone particularly well, and in ordinary driving around town it's not unusual for the phone to slip away from its spot and stop charging. On freeway driving I expect it will probably stay in place better, though I've not tested that yet. I assume this is a result of the beautiful top plate with the contour map engraving keeping the phone further away from the magnetic charger, so the choice is yours: Opt for a more beautiful unit with the chargers further from the phone, or opt for some other product where the chargers may be in direct contact and hold your phone better, but you'll not have the beautiful Rainer contour map engaging.
Overall, I'd recommend this product to anyone with the minor caveats noted above. It certainly holds an iPhone in place better than the stock unit, but not nearly as well as you may like or expect based on how a bare Magsafe charger can hold a phone.
Hey Steve - thanks for the feedback! The gap shown in the photos MAY be the result of a wire pinched underneath the charger. There's expected to be some slight amount of wiggle and play so that you can fit a card in to remove it. There's also slight variations in manufacturing - on both Rivian's side and ours - that may cause some differences in fit from vehicle to vehicle.
Across our testing, most phones by themselves, or in a MagSafe approved case, hold fast through most driving conditions - including bumpy off-road driving. Mind share which case you're using / what kind of phone you've got? Kick us a note - info@s00nish.com - and we'll do some digging with you!
